Creating confident, resilient learners
Nurturing and developing every child
My values
When people ask me what I do, I reply that I am both a teacher and a cheerleader.
I have over thirty years’ experience as a primary school teacher and tutor.
I believe that the key to a child’s success is to set achievable goals and to offer lots of encouragement and praise. I use a step-by-step child-centred approach. No matter what the ability of the child, I believe in setting high standards so that they can demand the best of themselves.
A safe place to make mistakes
Creating an environment where children feel safe to make mistakes is important to me. By nurturing them as learners, helping them to grow in confidence and become more resilient to getting it wrong means that a child is prepared to take risks and so ultimately achieve more.
I have witnessed many times, the amazing change that takes place when a child starts believing in themselves and how they then feel empowered in class at school.
Is your child bored at school?
Additionally, I enjoy teaching children who are coasting at school. It is impossible for a school curriculum to meet the needs of every child and so children who are high achievers can become easily bored in class. Drawing from a variety of primary and secondary school resources, I boost children’s learning in both English and maths. I love to see the expression on a child’s face when I show them that we have been using a GCSE resource!
